MON MON 10.30am MON This week, Rob Cowan's guest is the British fashion designer MON Elizabeth Emanuel. Born in London, she studied at the Harrow MON School of Art, where she met David Emanuel, and together MON they became the first married couple to be accepted by the MON Royal College of Art for a two-year Master's degree in MON Fashion. In 1977 the couple launched their own fashion house MON in Brook Street, Mayfair. Fame followed in 1981 when they MON were chosen to design Diana, Princess of Wales's ivory silk, MON taffeta and antique lace wedding dress. They also designed MON much of Diana's wardrobe for her subsequent Gulf tour. In MON 1987 the Emanuel Shop was opened in Knightsbridge, and MON collections were sold in exclusive London and New York MON stores. In 1991 Elizabeth Emanuel, by then working solo MON under her eponymous label, designed the range of uniforms, MON luggage and accessories for Richard Branson's Virgin MON Atlantic. She went on to design staff uniform for Britannia MON Airways. Having lost control of her business in 1997, she MON designed for other brands, and also for the Ballet Rambert MON and the London Contemporary Dance Theatre. In August 2005 MON she opened a new studio and launched a new label, Art of MON Being. She has created designs for films, TV shows and pop MON videos, and in 2010 returned to the catwalk during London MON Fashion Week with her Little Black Dress Collection. Fame followed in 1981 when they were chosen to TUE design Diana, Princess of Wales's ivory silk, taffeta and TUE antique lace wedding dress. They also designed much of TUE Diana's wardrobe for her subsequent Gulf tour. In 1991 TUE Elizabeth Emanuel, by then working solo under her eponymous TUE label, designed the range of uniforms, luggage and TUE accessories for Richard Branson's Virgin Atlantic. Born in London, she studied at the Harrow School of FRI Art, where she met David Emanuel, and together they became FRI the first married couple to be accepted by the Royal College FRI of Art for a two-year Master's degree in Fashion. In 1977 FRI the couple launched their own fashion house in Brook Street, FRI Mayfair. Fame followed in 1981 when they were chosen to FRI design Diana, Princess of Wales's ivory silk, taffeta and FRI antique lace wedding dress. They also designed much of FRI Diana's wardrobe for her subsequent Gulf tour. In 1987 the FRI Emanuel Shop was opened in Knightsbridge, and collections FRI were sold in exclusive London and New York stores. In 1991 FRI Elizabeth Emanuel, by then working solo under her eponymous FRI label, designed the range of uniforms, luggage and FRI accessories for Richard Branson's Virgin Atlantic. She went FRI on to design staff uniform for Britannia Airways. Having FRI lost control of her business in 1997, she designed for other FRI brands, and also for the Ballet Rambert and the London FRI Contemporary Dance Theatre. In August 2005 she opened a new FRI studio and launched a new label, Art of Being. She has FRI created designs for films, TV shows and pop videos, and in FRI 2010 returned to the catwalk during London Fashion Week with FRI her Little Black Dress Collection.
