Rob and his guest FRI - popular poet and Radio 3 presenter Ian McMillan - will FRI host a special edition of Breakfast as part of this year's FRI Comic Relief. FRI FRI The game of Consequences is a well known favourite at FRI parties in which each participant adds a line to a FRI structured story, often ending up with hilarious results. FRI Ian and Rob will guide listeners through the process and FRI pick out the sentences at random which have been emailed and FRI texted into the programme. The challenge is that then Ian FRI has to add his own sentence and attempt to make sense of FRI what has gone before. The next sentence is then written by FRI listeners and is picked at random, and so on until the end FRI of the story is reached when the programme finishes at 10am. FRI FRI Consequences: FRI FRI First line as given by Ian: FRI FRI Roland Redman FRI Nose like a sunrise FRI Stands at the morning bus stop FRI With his cello by his side FRI (He meets…) FRI FRI Second line: FRI FRI Susy pink perm walking Lulu her terrier in the 8 o'clock FRI mist. (Roland says...) FRI FRI Third line: FRI FRI How I wish that were a double bass you had upon your lead, FRI for then we could make sweet music all the day long. FRI (Suzy says...) FRI FRI Fourth line: FRI FRI "Wait a minim!" she quavered, I'm not any old crotchet, to FRI spend time in some bar, you highly strung player! FRI (Then they...) FRI FRI Fifth line: FRI FRI Roland & Susy & Lulu the dog were desperate to serenade, so FRI after some tea they walked to the sea at the end of a long FRI white pier. FRI (They meet a lost composer called...) FRI FRI Sixth line: FRI FRI Luigi the lost composer with luscious locks of auburn hair FRI and a viola case filled with laments and airs fit for a FRI furtive string quartet who also happened to be a keen FRI violist - as no one else wanted to play the viola parts of FRI his own music. FRI (But then something rises from the sea...) FRI FRI Seventh line: FRI FRI They were astounded as, without warning, a mermaid, FRI glistening with brine, arose from the sea and said "Hello, I FRI am Mavis, and I am here to take you to perform for the great FRI sea god Poseidon!" FRI (And then...) FRI FRI Eighth line: FRI FRI Suddenly, the sea beneath the pier began to boil. Bubbles FRI rising up from the deep burst loudly with the sound of what FRI could only be called chanting. FRI FRI As they listened with increasing trepidation it became FRI clear, much to their surprise, that someone, something FRI beneath the surface was chanting "Zadok the Plaice" over and FRI over again. FRI FRI Until suddenly, a creature emerged from the turbulent FRI waters. Like a mermaid, but fatter, so much fatter, covered FRI in batter, wielding a huge wooden spatula screeching loudly FRI "Behold, I am the fairy Codmother". FRI (She hands something to Roland...) FRI FRI Conclusion: FRI FRI The mermaid plunged down, FRI The quartet in her wake, FRI When oh horror! oh shock! FRI They could hear from a reef FRI Such a wailing of Sirens FRI As chilled them with fear. FRI "Now then, keep up your tempo," FRI Their brave leader gurgled, FRI "We won't hear of hard rock FRI Though the waves surge and roar FRI And our salt-seasoned bows FRI Are all bent and unstrung. FRI No! perform for old Poiso FRI Like we do at at the Proms. FRI Let the underrealms hear FRI what they'll never forget!" In this special Comic Relief edition of In Tune, FRI arts-analyst Dame Edna Everage, and Cultural Ambassador (and FRI former Chairman of the International Cheese Board) Sir Les FRI Patterson join Sean Rafferty to penetrate the mysteries of FRI classical music both around the world and in Australia. FRI Harry the Piano, already known to Radio 3 listeners from the FRI Genius of Mozart, improvises on themes suggested by FRI listeners plus a few other 'culturally relevant' tunes. FRI FRI Today's programme also reveals the winning presenter of the FRI cross-Radio Stand-Up for Comic Relief with Radio 3's Tom FRI Service trying his hand at stand-up, plus a feature on a FRI musical project Comic Relief supports: the Lofthouse 2000 FRI Brass Band, a former colliery band who have used money to FRI buy new instruments.
